PRIVACY POLICY
Last Updated: August 30, 2026
Curly Lifestyles Media Inc. (“Curly Lifestyles,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of our readers, customers, contributors, interview participants and other individuals who interact with us.
This Privacy Policy explains how Curly Lifestyles may collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information through curlylifestyles.com, our editorial and media activities, newsletters, social-media activities, accounts, store, quizzes and recommendation tools, contests and promotions, contributor features, story submissions and other services that link to this Policy.
Curly Lifestyles Media Inc. is based in Ontario, Canada.
For privacy questions, concerns or requests, contact:

1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled by Curly Lifestyles in connection with our website and related business and editorial activities.
This Policy does not govern independent third parties such as retailers, salons, hairstylists, booking platforms, payment processors, advertisers, affiliate partners, social-media platforms or other websites and services that maintain their own privacy practices.
Additional notices, consent requests, contest rules, contributor agreements, releases or other terms may apply to a particular feature or activity. Those more specific notices supplement this Privacy Policy.
2. Our Role as a Media and Editorial Organization
Curly Lifestyles is a media publication that researches, creates, records, edits, publishes and distributes editorial content.
Our journalism and editorial activities may include articles, interviews, profiles, photography, video, audio, street interviews, event coverage, red-carpet coverage, celebrity coverage, cultural reporting, product and industry reporting and other forms of media.
Depending on the jurisdiction and circumstances, privacy and data-protection laws may contain exemptions, exclusions or special rules for personal information processed for journalistic, artistic, literary, freedom-of-expression or public-interest purposes.
For example, Canadian federal private-sector privacy law excludes certain personal information that an organization collects, uses or discloses solely for journalistic, artistic or literary purposes.
Where such an exemption or exclusion applies, Curly Lifestyles may rely upon it as permitted by law.
We do not treat an editorial or journalistic exemption as blanket permission to use information for unrelated purposes such as customer profiling, behavioural advertising, e-commerce or marketing where those activities are independently subject to privacy law.
3. Information We May Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with Curly Lifestyles.
Contact Information
We may collect information such as:
- your name;
- email address;
- business or organization name;
- telephone number if voluntarily provided;
- social-media handle;
- mailing address where necessary; and
- information included in your communication with us.
Account Information
If you create an account, we may collect:
- name;
- username;
- email address;
- authentication information;
- account preferences;
- profile information;
- contributor information; and
- information associated with your account activity.
Purchase and Transaction Information
Where Curly Lifestyles sells products directly, we may collect:
- name;
- email address;
- billing address;
- shipping address;
- order details;
- purchase history;
- transaction identifiers;
- customer-service communications; and
- other information necessary to complete and document the transaction.
Payment processing may be provided by services such as WooPayments, Stripe, PayPal or another payment provider.
Full payment-card details may be collected and processed directly by the applicable payment provider rather than stored by Curly Lifestyles. Payment providers maintain their own privacy and security practices.
Newsletter Information
When you subscribe to our newsletter or other marketing communications, we may collect:
- your email address;
- subscription preferences;
- date, source and status of consent;
- interests you voluntarily provide; and
- email engagement information where tracking is enabled and legally permitted.
Curly Lifestyles currently uses MailPoet to manage newsletter communications.
Contest and Promotion Information
If you participate in a contest, giveaway or promotion, we may collect information such as:
- name;
- email address;
- eligibility or age confirmation;
- contest entry;
- mailing address where required for prize delivery;
- photograph, video or other submitted material where relevant; and
- information required by the applicable Official Rules.
Entering a contest does not automatically constitute consent to unrelated marketing unless you separately agree or applicable law otherwise permits the communication.
4. Editorial Reporting, Photography, Video and Interviews
As part of our editorial work, Curly Lifestyles may photograph, film, audio-record, interview or otherwise document people in circumstances including:
- red carpets;
- fashion, beauty, hair and cultural events;
- festivals;
- public events;
- industry events;
- salons or other businesses with appropriate access;
- public streets and public spaces;
- interviews arranged directly with participants;
- media events;
- press opportunities; and
- other newsworthy or editorial settings.
Depending on the circumstances, information associated with our reporting may include a person’s:
- image or likeness;
- voice;
- name;
- statements and quotations;
- occupation or professional role;
- publicly presented biography;
- publicly presented social-media information;
- clothing, hairstyle or appearance;
- event participation;
- interview responses; and
- other information relevant to the story being reported.
We may use this material to research, produce, edit, fact-check, publish, distribute, archive and promote Curly Lifestyles editorial content through our website, newsletters, social-media channels, video platforms and other Curly Lifestyles media channels.
Direct Interviews and Featured Participants
Where we intentionally invite a person to participate in a recorded interview or feature them as a principal subject, we may obtain verbal, written, electronic or on-camera consent or an appropriate media release depending on the circumstances, jurisdiction and intended use.
Interview material may be edited for length, clarity, grammar, style, formatting or presentation, provided that we do not intentionally materially misrepresent the meaning of the participant’s statements.
Unless Curly Lifestyles expressly agrees otherwise before information is provided, submitting information or participating in ordinary communications with us does not by itself create an obligation that the information will be treated as confidential, anonymous, “off the record” or embargoed.
Any agreement that information is confidential, anonymous, on background or off the record should be expressly established with Curly Lifestyles.
Public Events, Public Figures and Editorial Reporting
Curly Lifestyles may report on celebrities, public figures, professionals, businesses, public appearances and matters of legitimate editorial or public interest using lawfully obtained information and materials.
Information may come from interviews, events, press materials, public statements, official sources, professional information, public records or other sources reasonably used for editorial reporting.
The fact that information or an image is accessible to the public does not, by itself, mean that Curly Lifestyles considers it available for every unrelated commercial purpose.
In particular, Curly Lifestyles does not treat someone’s public presence or public social-media activity as blanket permission to use that person’s identity to falsely imply that the person endorses Curly Lifestyles, a sponsor, a product or a service.
Where a person’s image, voice or likeness will be used for a materially different advertising or promotional purpose beyond ordinary editorial publication and promotion, additional permission or contractual rights may be required depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Incidental Appearances
People may sometimes appear incidentally in photographs or video of crowds, events, public settings or other editorial scenes.
The legal treatment of incidental appearances, editorial reporting and public-event photography varies by jurisdiction and context.
Curly Lifestyles seeks to comply with applicable law, venue requirements, credential terms and event rules.
Minors in Editorial Content
We take additional care when intentionally interviewing or prominently featuring minors.
Where parental or guardian permission is legally required or otherwise appropriate, Curly Lifestyles will seek that permission.
No Facial Recognition
Curly Lifestyles does not currently use photographs or video footage to create facial-recognition templates, biometric identifiers or biometric profiles for identifying people.
If that practice were ever materially changed, it would require separate legal and privacy review and appropriate notice or consent where required.
5. Information From Public and Editorial Sources
For editorial purposes, Curly Lifestyles may obtain information from sources such as:
- official press releases;
- media kits;
- public statements;
- public events;
- government or other official records;
- professional biographies;
- public-facing business information;
- interviews;
- authorized representatives;
- event organizers;
- public professional profiles;
- publicly accessible media or social-media posts; and
- other legitimate editorial sources.
Public accessibility does not necessarily eliminate privacy rights or authorize unrelated reuse.
We do not treat information obtained for editorial reporting as automatically available for unrelated behavioural advertising or commercial profiling.
6. Story Submissions and Contributors
Individuals may submit stories, articles, photographs, videos, quotations, biographies and other content to Curly Lifestyles.
Unpaid contributors may also create contributor profiles.
Information intended for publication may include a contributor’s:
- name or chosen public name;
- photograph;
- biography;
- professional information;
- social-media links;
- article or submission; and
- other information the contributor agrees to make public.
If content is published, it may become publicly available worldwide and may be:
- indexed by search engines;
- shared on social media;
- linked from other websites;
- preserved in web archives;
- quoted or reported by third parties; and
- retained in Curly Lifestyles’ editorial archives.
Removing an account does not necessarily require removal of previously published editorial content.
Even if Curly Lifestyles removes published content from its own services, we cannot guarantee removal of copies from search engines, caches, archives, screenshots or third-party websites.
Contributors retain ownership of their original work subject to the licence and permissions they grant to Curly Lifestyles under our Terms of Service or other applicable contributor agreement.
Curly Lifestyles may edit accepted submissions for spelling, grammar, length, clarity, formatting, style and presentation.
7. Information About Other People
Please do not submit private information, photographs or other material concerning another person unless you are legally permitted and, where necessary, authorized to do so.
Individuals submitting content may be required to confirm that they have the rights, permissions and consents necessary for Curly Lifestyles to use the submitted material.
8. Quizzes, Surveys and Recommendation Tools
Curly Lifestyles may provide quizzes, polls, assessments, surveys and recommendation tools relating to subjects such as:
- curl characteristics;
- hair texture;
- hair routines;
- styling preferences;
- product preferences;
- hair porosity;
- scalp or hair concerns;
- beauty preferences;
- salon or hairstylist preferences; and
- other editorial or lifestyle topics.
We may process the answers you provide and technical information associated with your interaction with a quiz in order to:
- calculate and display results;
- provide personalized recommendations;
- suggest relevant editorial content;
- recommend products, salons, hairstylists or services;
- understand audience interests;
- analyze quiz performance;
- prevent misuse or duplicate entries;
- improve quizzes and content; and
- develop aggregated audience insights.
We may generate inferences from quiz responses, such as a likely hair characteristic, product preference or area of interest.
Quiz results are automated editorial recommendations and are not intended to make decisions that create legal or similarly significant effects concerning you.
9. Hair, Scalp and Potentially Sensitive Quiz Information
Certain questions involving hair loss, scalp conditions or similar concerns could reveal or suggest information that may be considered health-related or otherwise sensitive in some jurisdictions.
Where Curly Lifestyles intentionally requests potentially sensitive information, we seek to limit the information requested to what is reasonably relevant to the feature.
We do not intend to provide identifiable sensitive hair-, scalp- or health-related quiz answers to sponsors or advertising companies for their independent behavioural-advertising purposes merely because they sponsored a quiz.
We do not intend to use identifiable information suggesting that a person has a particular medical condition for cross-context behavioural advertising without clear notice and an appropriate lawful basis or consent where required.
Where possible, health-adjacent content may instead use contextual advertising that is based on the content being viewed rather than a profile of the individual viewer.
Quiz results concerning hair loss, scalp health or similar matters are not medical diagnoses.
10. Sponsored Quizzes and Sponsored Features
A quiz, article, video, recommendation tool or other feature may be sponsored by a brand or created through a commercial partnership.
A sponsorship relationship does not automatically mean the sponsor receives identifiable information about participants.
If participation in a sponsored feature would involve providing identifiable personal information to a sponsor for the sponsor’s independent use, we will seek to provide additional notice before that disclosure and obtain consent where required.
We may provide sponsors with aggregated or appropriately de-identified information such as overall participation numbers, general response trends or campaign performance where that information does not reasonably identify an individual.
Sponsored recommendations and affiliate relationships will be disclosed where required or appropriate.
11. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit Curly Lifestyles, our website or service providers may collect technical information such as:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- operating system;
- device type;
- language;
- referring website or page;
- pages viewed;
- links clicked;
- dates and times of visits;
- session information;
- general interaction information;
- approximate geographic information derived from an IP address;
- cookie or similar identifiers;
- security information; and
- error or diagnostic information.
We do not currently intentionally collect precise GPS location simply because you browse Curly Lifestyles.
If a future feature requests precise device location, we will seek to provide appropriate notice and obtain device permission or other consent where required.
12. Google Analytics
Curly Lifestyles currently uses Google Analytics to help understand website traffic and usage.
Depending on configuration and your consent choices, Google Analytics may process information such as:
- pages viewed;
- session information;
- interactions;
- device and browser information;
- online identifiers;
- approximate geographic information; and
- traffic-source information.
We use analytics to understand how the website performs, identify useful content, detect technical problems and improve Curly Lifestyles.
Where applicable law requires prior consent for analytics technologies, analytics should be subject to the applicable consent controls.
13. Email Communications and MailPoet
Curly Lifestyles currently uses MailPoet for newsletter and email communications.
You may subscribe through a designated subscription form or, where available, through a separate optional marketing-consent choice during checkout.
Purchasing from Curly Lifestyles does not by itself mean that you have provided express consent to receive all promotional marketing communications.
Marketing emails may include:
- editorial updates;
- newsletters;
- product recommendations;
- Curly Lifestyles products;
- affiliate offers;
- sponsored offers;
- promotions;
- contests;
- brand partnerships; and
- other Curly Lifestyles news.
You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe mechanism contained in the message.
We may continue to send necessary non-marketing communications, such as:
- order confirmations;
- shipping notices;
- account notices;
- security notifications;
- password-reset messages;
- responses to inquiries; and
- communications necessary to manage a submission or transaction.
Where Canadian anti-spam law applies, we seek to comply with applicable consent, sender-identification and unsubscribe requirements.
Email Engagement Information
MailPoet may provide features capable of measuring email opens or link clicks using tracking images, links or similar technology.
Where such tracking is enabled, Curly Lifestyles may use engagement information to understand newsletter performance and improve communications.
Where applicable law requires consent for such tracking, we will seek to respect the applicable choice.
14. Affiliate Links and Referrals
Curly Lifestyles may participate in affiliate programs.
Our editorial content, quizzes, guides, recommendations and other features may contain links to:
- hair and beauty products;
- retailers;
- salons;
- hairstylists;
- booking platforms;
- events;
- travel services;
- digital products;
- physical products; and
- other relevant services or businesses.
When you use an affiliate link, information associated with the referral may be transmitted to the relevant retailer, affiliate network or service provider so that the referral can be attributed to Curly Lifestyles.
If a qualifying purchase, booking or other action occurs, Curly Lifestyles may receive a commission or other compensation.
A third party’s own privacy policy governs information it collects once you interact directly with its service.
15. Advertising, Sponsorships and Paid Partnerships
Curly Lifestyles may display advertisements and participate in:
- sponsored articles;
- sponsored videos;
- sponsored quizzes;
- branded content;
- affiliate marketing;
- product partnerships;
- paid brand partnerships;
- display advertising; and
- other commercial arrangements.
Material commercial relationships will be disclosed in accordance with applicable advertising and consumer-protection requirements.
Curly Lifestyles does not currently use Meta Pixel or TikTok Pixel.
Additional advertising or measurement technology may be introduced in the future. Before materially different tracking practices are introduced, we intend to evaluate applicable notice, consent and opt-out requirements and update our disclosures as necessary.
16. We Do Not Sell Personal Information for Money
Curly Lifestyles does not currently sell personal information to data brokers or other companies in exchange for money.
Some privacy laws, however, use words such as “sell,” “share,” “targeted advertising,” or “cross-context behavioural advertising” more broadly and may treat certain transfers involving advertising technology as regulated activity even where personal information itself is not sold for cash.
If Curly Lifestyles engages in activity that is legally considered a sale, sharing or targeted-advertising disclosure and applicable law gives you an opt-out right, we will provide the required choice.
17. Children and Teenagers
Curly Lifestyles is intended for individuals 13 years of age and older.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in circumstances requiring parental or guardian consent.
If you are under 13, please do not independently:
- create an account;
- subscribe to marketing communications;
- make purchases;
- provide personal information through a quiz;
- submit stories or photographs;
- enter a contest requiring personal information; or
- otherwise provide personal information to Curly Lifestyles
without appropriate involvement or authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
Some jurisdictions impose a higher age for independent privacy consent. Where applicable law requires parental or guardian authorization for an older minor, the applicable rule will govern.
Individuals who have not reached the age of majority where they live may require parental or guardian involvement to make purchases, enter contracts, submit certain content or participate in particular contests.
Specific contests or services may have higher minimum ages stated in their Official Rules or terms.
Where applicable law requires affirmative authorization before personal information concerning a user under 16 may be sold, shared or used for certain targeted-advertising purposes, Curly Lifestyles will not knowingly undertake that activity without the required authorization.
If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this Policy, contact info@curlylifestyles.com.
18. Social Media and Third-Party Platforms
Curly Lifestyles maintains or may maintain accounts on platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and other social-media services.
If you interact with Curly Lifestyles on one of those services, the platform may independently collect and use information under its own privacy policy.
We may receive information that you intentionally make available to Curly Lifestyles through the platform, such as:
- your public account name;
- message content;
- comments;
- public posts;
- contest entries; or
- information you intentionally submit to us.
A simple social-media link on Curly Lifestyles does not by itself mean that Curly Lifestyles is operating that company’s advertising pixel.
19. Embedded Third-Party Content
Curly Lifestyles may embed or incorporate third-party content such as videos, social posts or other interactive features.
When embedded content loads, the third-party provider may receive technical information about your device or interaction.
Where the technology is non-essential and applicable law requires prior consent, it should be controlled according to the applicable consent choices.
20. How We Use Personal Information
Depending on the circumstances, Curly Lifestyles may use personal information to:
- operate, maintain and secure the website;
- create and administer accounts;
- process purchases;

- investigate technical problems;
- comply with accounting, tax and other legal requirements;
- protect our legal rights;
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims; and
- carry out another purpose disclosed at or before the relevant collection.
21. Purpose Limitation
We seek to collect, use and disclose personal information for purposes that are appropriate and reasonably connected to the circumstances in which the information was obtained.
We do not treat the fact that Curly Lifestyles already possesses information as permission to use it for any purpose whatsoever.
If we wish to use personal information for a materially different purpose that requires new notice or consent under applicable law, we will seek to provide that notice or obtain that consent.
22. Legal Bases Where Required
Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis for processing, Curly Lifestyles may rely on one or more of the following, depending on the circumstances:
Consent, including for certain marketing, optional cookies, sensitive information or other activities where consent is appropriate.
Contract or steps taken at your request, including processing an order, providing an account or delivering a requested service.
Legitimate interests, where legally permitted and where our interests are not overridden by your rights, such as operating and securing our services, preventing fraud, understanding website performance and administering ordinary business activities.
Legal obligations, such as tax, accounting, consumer-protection or regulatory requirements.
Journalistic, artistic, literary, freedom-of-expression or public-interest grounds or exemptions, where applicable law provides them.
Other lawful grounds may apply depending on the jurisdiction and circumstances.
23. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to categories of recipients such as:
Service Providers
Providers that help operate our business, such as:
- website hosts;
- security providers;
- email providers;
- cloud providers;
- analytics providers;
- technical vendors;
- e-commerce providers;
- customer-service providers; and
- professional advisers.
Payment Providers
Payment processors where necessary to process a transaction.
Shipping and Fulfilment Providers
Providers that need customer or winner information to deliver physical orders or prizes.
Affiliate Networks
Where necessary to track a referral or commission.
Advertising and Measurement Providers
Where advertising technologies are enabled, legally permitted and subject to applicable privacy choices.
Sponsors and Promotion Partners
Where necessary to administer a particular promotion or where a separate disclosure explains that information will be provided to the partner.
A sponsor does not automatically receive identifiable participant information solely because it paid for a feature.
Legal and Safety Disclosures
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary or legally required to:
- comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order or other valid legal process;
- respond to lawful government or regulatory requests;
- investigate fraud, misuse or security threats;
- protect Curly Lifestyles, our users or another person’s rights or safety; or
- establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Business Transactions
If Curly Lifestyles undergoes a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale or transfer involving all or part of its business or assets, relevant information may be transferred subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.
24. Service Providers and Accountability
Where another company processes personal information on our behalf, we seek to use reasonable contractual, organizational or technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information and the service involved.
Curly Lifestyles remains responsible for personal information under its control to the extent required by applicable law.
25. Aggregated and De-Identified Information
We may create aggregated statistics or de-identified information for purposes including:
- editorial research;
- audience analysis;
- quiz analysis;
- business planning;
- advertising measurement;
- sponsor reporting; and
- service improvement.
Where information is treated as de-identified or anonymized under applicable law, we seek to maintain it in that state and not intentionally re-identify it except where legally permitted, such as to evaluate whether de-identification is effective.
26. International Processing
Curly Lifestyles is based in Canada, but our service providers may process information in Canada, the United States or other countries.
Personal information processed outside your home jurisdiction may be subject to the laws of the country in which it is processed, including lawful access by courts, law-enforcement or government authorities.
Where applicable law requires additional safeguards for international transfers, we will seek to implement appropriate contractual or other safeguards.
27. Retention of Personal Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant purposes, subject to legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, contractual, archival and recordkeeping requirements.
Retention periods may vary based on:
- why the information was collected;
- the nature and sensitivity of the information;
- whether an account remains active;
- whether a transaction is outstanding;
- tax and accounting requirements;
- consent records;
- legal limitation periods;
- security requirements;
- fraud-prevention needs;
- whether a dispute exists; and
- whether information forms part of legitimate published editorial or archival material.
Transaction records may need to be retained after an account closes.
Limited records of newsletter consent or unsubscribe requests may be retained so that we can demonstrate consent or continue honouring a request not to receive marketing.
Editorial Archives
Published articles, photography, video, interviews and other editorial material may be maintained as part of Curly Lifestyles’ historical or journalistic archive.
A request to delete personal information does not necessarily require Curly Lifestyles to erase legitimate published journalism, archival material or information that applicable law permits or requires us to retain.
Raw reporting materials, notes or footage may also be retained where reasonably necessary for editorial integrity, evidentiary purposes, source protection, legal claims or other legitimate journalistic purposes.
When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we may securely delete, destroy or appropriately anonymize it.
28. Security
Curly Lifestyles uses reasonable administrative, organizational and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, loss or destruction.
Depending on the circumstances, safeguards may include:
- access controls;
- authentication measures;
- secure hosting;
- software and security updates;
- backups;
- account-security measures; and
- safeguards provided by trusted service providers.
No website, transmission method, database or security system is completely secure.
For that reason, we do not promise absolute or 100% security.
If a breach of security safeguards occurs, Curly Lifestyles will evaluate and respond to it in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including required regulatory reporting or notification to affected individuals where applicable.
29. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location and the laws applicable to Curly Lifestyles’ activities, you may have rights such as the right to:
- request access to personal information;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion where applicable;
- withdraw consent where processing depends on consent;
- object to certain processing;
- restrict certain processing;
- request portability of certain information;
- obtain information about sources, uses or disclosures;
- opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale or sharing;
- limit certain uses of sensitive personal information;
- use an authorized agent where legally permitted;
- appeal certain privacy-request decisions where applicable; and
- make a complaint to an applicable privacy or data-protection regulator.
Not every right applies in every jurisdiction or to every type of information.
Rights may also be subject to lawful exceptions involving journalism, freedom of expression, legal claims, fraud prevention, security, another person’s rights, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements or other legally recognized grounds.
30. Privacy Requests
To submit a privacy request, contact:
Privacy Officer
info@curlylifestyles.com
Please provide enough information for us to understand and locate the information involved.
We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before providing access to, correcting or deleting personal information.
Verification information will be used only as reasonably necessary to process the request.
We aim to respond to valid requests within 30 days, or within another period required or permitted by applicable law.
Where applicable law permits an extension and additional time is reasonably necessary, we may inform you of the extension.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against a person for exercising an applicable privacy right.
31. Deletion Requests and Published Editorial Content
Privacy deletion rights are not absolute.
A request to delete an account, customer record or other personal information does not necessarily require removal of:
- legitimate journalism;
- published interviews;
- editorial photography or video;
- historical archives;
- information required by law;
- records necessary to establish or defend legal claims;
- information necessary to prevent fraud;
- records necessary to honour an unsubscribe request; or
- other information that applicable law permits us to retain.
We will assess deletion requests according to the applicable law and the context in which the information is held.
We also cannot guarantee that third-party search engines, archives, social networks or websites will remove copies of content previously made public.
32. Corrections to Editorial Material
If you believe that published Curly Lifestyles editorial material contains a factual error involving you, you may contact us.
A privacy request does not automatically give an individual editorial control over lawful reporting, but Curly Lifestyles may review legitimate factual correction requests under our editorial standards and applicable law.
33. Withdrawal of Consent
Where Curly Lifestyles relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent subject to applicable legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
Withdrawal does not retroactively invalidate processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.
If certain information is necessary to provide a requested service, withdrawing consent may prevent us from continuing to provide that service.
34. Global Privacy Control and Other Browser Signals
Some browsers and extensions support privacy preference signals such as Global Privacy Control (“GPC”).
Where applicable law requires Curly Lifestyles to recognize a qualifying universal opt-out signal, we will seek to honour supported signals as required.
“Do Not Track” signals do not currently have one universally adopted legal or technical interpretation. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, Curly Lifestyles may not respond to traditional DNT signals.
35. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in:
- our website;
- editorial operations;
- store;
- quizzes;
- advertising;
- affiliate relationships;
- technology;
- vendors;
- business practices; or
- applicable law.
The updated Policy will display a revised Last Updated date.
Where a change would result in a materially different use of previously collected personal information and applicable law requires additional notice, consent or another choice, Curly Lifestyles will seek to provide it.
We will not rely solely on silently updating this Privacy Policy where applicable law requires a new consent.

- authentication;
- payment security;
- fraud prevention;
- account functionality; and
- order processing.
Payment and e-commerce providers may also use their own necessary technologies when you interact with their services.
8. Affiliate Tracking
Some Curly Lifestyles content contains or may contain affiliate links.
Affiliate links may contain a referral identifier indicating that Curly Lifestyles referred a visitor to another retailer, salon, stylist, booking platform or service.
The destination website or affiliate network may use a cookie or similar technology to determine whether a purchase, booking or other qualifying action resulted from that referral.
Curly Lifestyles may receive compensation when a qualifying action occurs.
The third party determines and is responsible for technologies that it places on its own service.
9. Advertising and Marketing Technologies
Curly Lifestyles may display advertising and participate in paid partnerships.
Advertising technologies may eventually be used to:
- display advertisements;
- measure impressions;
- measure interactions;
- attribute conversions;
- prevent advertising fraud;
- limit how frequently an advertisement appears;
- understand campaign performance; and
- where legally permitted and appropriately consented to, support interest-based or targeted advertising.
Curly Lifestyles currently uses Google Analytics and does not currently use Meta Pixel or TikTok Pixel.
We may introduce additional advertising or measurement technologies in the future.
If our practices materially change, we will seek to update our disclosures and obtain or honour applicable consent and opt-out choices.
10. Health-Related and Sensitive Content
Curly Lifestyles may publish editorial content concerning hair loss, scalp conditions and other health-adjacent subjects.
We do not intend to use a person’s identifiable reading history in a manner that tells an advertising company that the individual has a particular medical diagnosis merely because that person viewed an article.
We also do not intend to send identifiable sensitive quiz answers indicating a health condition to advertising companies for cross-context behavioural advertising without an appropriate lawful basis and any consent required by law.
As our advertising technology develops, Curly Lifestyles intends to evaluate whether sensitive or health-related pages and quizzes should be excluded from behavioural tracking or instead use contextual advertising.
11. Social Media Links
Curly Lifestyles may link to platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube.
A normal link or social icon does not necessarily mean that the social network’s advertising pixel is installed on Curly Lifestyles.
If you click a link and visit the third-party platform, that company’s own privacy and cookie practices apply.
12. Embedded Content
Pages may contain embedded videos, posts, widgets or other features supplied by third parties.
When embedded content is loaded, your browser may communicate directly with the provider.
Depending on the feature, the third party may receive technical or interaction information and may use its own cookies or technologies.
Where a non-essential embed requires prior consent under applicable law, it should be controlled according to the visitor’s applicable privacy choices.
13. Quizzes and Interactive Features
Cookies, local storage or similar technologies may help support quizzes and recommendation features by:
- remembering temporary progress;
- storing temporary selections;
- calculating or displaying results;
- avoiding duplicate participation;
- measuring use; or
- maintaining a session.
Quiz answers may also be processed as described in our Privacy Policy.
Sponsorship of a quiz does not automatically mean that a sponsor receives identifiable quiz responses.
14. Email Tracking
Browser cookies and email tracking are not necessarily the same technology.
MailPoet may provide features capable of using tracking images, links or similar technologies to determine whether a newsletter was opened or a link was clicked.
If Curly Lifestyles enables such features, engagement information may be used to understand newsletter performance.
Where applicable law requires a consent choice for email tracking, we will seek to respect that requirement.
Unsubscribing from marketing email is separate from any tracking preference.
15. Cookie Consent
Where applicable law requires affirmative consent for non-essential cookies or similar technologies, Curly Lifestyles will seek to obtain the required choice rather than treating silence or continued browsing as affirmative consent.
A compliant consent interface may provide choices such as:
Accept All
Allows applicable optional cookies and technologies.
Reject Non-Essential
Declines optional technologies requiring consent while allowing strictly necessary technologies.
Manage Preferences
Allows you to control individual categories where supported.
Where affirmative consent is legally required:
- optional categories should not be preselected as accepted;
- rejecting should be reasonably as easy as accepting; and
- a user’s expressed choice should be respected by the technologies operating on the website.
16. Changing or Withdrawing Your Consent
Where consent-based cookies are used, visitors should be able to change or withdraw their consent through a Cookie Settings, Privacy Choices or equivalent control where required.
Changing a preference generally affects future use of the relevant technologies.
It may not automatically erase information previously lawfully collected.
17. Browser Controls
Most browsers allow users to:
- view cookies;
- delete cookies;
- block cookies;
- block third-party cookies;
- permit cookies only on selected websites; or
- receive notices concerning cookie activity.
Blocking strictly necessary technologies may affect website functions such as accounts, carts or checkout.
18. Global Privacy Control
Some browsers and browser extensions support Global Privacy Control (“GPC”).
Where applicable law requires us to treat a qualifying GPC signal as an opt-out of legally defined sale or sharing, Curly Lifestyles will seek to honour the signal as required.
19. Rejecting Advertising Cookies
Rejecting advertising or targeted-advertising technologies does not necessarily mean that you will never see an advertisement.
You may still see advertising that is contextual, non-personalized or otherwise not based on optional tracking that you declined.
20. Cookie Duration and Provider Information
Different technologies remain active for different periods.
Some expire when you close your browser, while others may remain for a specified period.
Third-party providers may determine the duration of technologies they control.
Where our cookie-management system provides a current cookie inventory, the information displayed through that system may identify additional details such as:
- cookie or technology name;
- provider;
- category;
- purpose; and
- duration.
Because website technologies can change when plugins and service providers are updated, a current consent-tool inventory may be more accurate than a static list that becomes outdated.
21. Changes to This Cookie Policy
Our use of cookies may change as Curly Lifestyles adds or removes:
- analytics tools;
- store features;
- affiliate programs;
- advertisers;
- embedded content;
- quizzes;
- personalization features; or
- other technologies.
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect those changes.
Where a material change requires new consent under applicable law, we will seek that consent rather than relying solely on an update to this Policy.
